Pain management care in Whiting
Our Whiting office serves Manchester Township and the communities of western Ocean County. Many of our patients here are retirees who live in the nearby adult communities, and many are working people who would rather not drive to the shore for a doctor's visit. Either way, the goal is the same: find the source of your pain and build a plan you can live with.
You will find us at 1100 Route 70, Entrance B, on Route 70 in Whiting/Manchester, about three-quarters of a mile east of the Wawa at Route 70 and Lacey Road. Patients come from Whiting, Crestwood Village, Holiday City, Lakehurst and Manchester, as well as from Lacey Township, Forked River, Berkeley Township and Browns Mills.
Whiting is one of our larger offices, with pain management, rheumatology and orthopaedic providers. Dr. Dharam Mann sees patients here. He is board certified in anesthesiology and pain medicine, trained at Massachusetts General Hospital / Harvard Medical School, and focuses on non-surgical, image-guided care. He is joined by Dr. Manjula Singh and Dr. Samir Jani in pain management, rheumatologist Dr. Shahzad Hussain, physician assistant Alisja Hartman and nurse practitioner Christina DiPaolo.
Common reasons people visit us in Whiting include low back pain and spinal stenosis that make walking hard, sciatica, neck pain, knee and hip arthritis, compression fractures from osteoporosis, and nerve pain from diabetes or shingles. Rheumatoid arthritis and other inflammatory conditions are treated by our rheumatology team in the same office, which helps when joint pain has more than one cause.
Your first visit is a conversation and an exam. We review your history and imaging and explain what we think is causing the pain. Treatment may start with physical therapy, medicines or home exercises. If you need more, we can discuss image-guided injections, radiofrequency ablation for arthritic joints, or stimulator therapy for long-lasting nerve pain. We explain the risks and realistic expectations for each, and results vary from person to person.
For many Manchester residents, a back or hip problem first shows up as trouble with everyday things: walking the clubhouse loop, standing in line at the store, getting in and out of the car or sleeping through the night. Tell us which activities matter most to you. We use those goals to judge whether a treatment is working, not just a number on a pain scale. If you already see a primary care doctor, cardiologist or other specialist, we can coordinate with them. This matters most for blood thinners, diabetes and other conditions that affect when and how procedures can be done.
The office is open Monday through Friday, 8am to 5pm. Use Entrance B when you arrive. Bring your ID, insurance card, a list of medicines and any recent imaging reports. If you have questions about parking or getting into the building, call us at 732-202-3000 before your visit.
