Pain management care in Manahawkin

Our Manahawkin office brings pain management close to home for southern Ocean County. For many people on Long Beach Island and in Stafford Township, the alternative is a long drive north. Here you can see a pain specialist a few minutes from home.

The office is at 1109 Beacon Avenue, on the corner of Nautilus Drive and Beacon Avenue, directly behind HMH Southern Ocean Medical Center. It is a short drive from Route 72 and the Garden State Parkway, and an easy trip over the causeway from Ship Bottom and the rest of Long Beach Island. Patients also come from Barnegat, Tuckerton, Little Egg Harbor, West Creek and Beach Haven.

Dr. Dharam Mann sees patients in Manahawkin. He is board certified in anesthesiology and pain medicine, completed fellowship training at Massachusetts General Hospital / Harvard Medical School, and focuses on non-surgical, image-guided care. Interventional pain specialist Dr. Samir Jani, physician assistant Alisja Hartman and nurse practitioner Christina DiPaolo also see patients at this office.

People visit us here for many reasons: back pain from years of boating, fishing or construction work, sciatica, neck pain, arthritic knees and hips, and nerve pain. We also see people after car accidents on Route 72 and the Parkway, and seasonal workers whose pain flares in the busy summer months.

At your first visit we review your history and any imaging, examine you and explain what we think is driving the pain. Many plans begin with physical therapy, activity changes and medicines. If those are not enough, we may discuss image-guided injections, radiofrequency ablation or, for long-standing nerve pain, stimulator therapy. We explain the benefits, the risks and what a realistic result looks like for you. Results vary from person to person.

Because the office sits next to Southern Ocean Medical Center, it is easy to find. It is also convenient if you already have imaging or other care nearby. Bring your ID, insurance card, medicine list and imaging reports.

Southern Ocean County has a strong seasonal rhythm, and so does pain. Many patients put off care in the summer and then find their back or knees worse by fall. Our Manahawkin staff can help you plan visits and any procedures around work, travel and family schedules. If you already have imaging from Southern Ocean Medical Center or another nearby facility, bring the reports or let us know where it was done. That helps us avoid repeat tests when they are not needed. We also coordinate with your primary care doctor, which is especially important if you take blood thinners or have diabetes.

The office is open Monday through Friday, 8am to 5pm. For questions about parking or access, call 732-202-3000.
